As another year comes to an end, Cornerstone Homes wants to take a moment to reminisce about some of the wonderful moments we’ve shared. From new homeowners and beautiful communities to fun events and appreciated awards, it’s been quite an exciting 2023. We’re so thankful to all of our homeowners, vendors, team members, and everyone involved in making our active adult communities in Virginia the best they can be. Community Highlights

Spring Creek

Spring Creek officially opened with an exciting grand opening event to showcase two new incredible models. We’ve welcomed a few homebuyers who will be moving in soon and have a few more homes under construction ready to welcome you in 2024! This new community is conveniently located just east of Charlottesville, VA. There’s never a dull moment with its exceptional amenities both within and outside the community: vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, miles of trails, a nationally recognized golf course, and more.

Church Square

Church Square welcomed 13 new homeowners to its ever-growing community of over 100 homeowners! The social committee made sure there was plenty of fun to be had throughout the year, hosting lively socials, neighborhood coffee meet-ups, a community yard sale, and countless neighborly chats by the poolside, fireside, and along strolls down the streets. Church Square is nestled in historic Smithfield, VA surrounded by shopping, dining, marinas, parks, entertainment, and more just a stone’s throw away.

Chickahominy Falls

Chickahominy Falls continues to thrive with 25 new homeowners rounding the bend in Pine Springs while enjoying its award-winning farm-like lifestyle. And with over 20 new homeowners ready to begin life anew, Westwoods welcomed its very first homeowners just this week! This community epitomizes what 55+ communities should be. Combining sustainability, convenience, and social connection in Richmond, VA, we’re proud to build homes with you and for you at Chickahominy Falls.

Events, Activities & Clubs

Discovering a more connected and engaged life for those 55 has never been more lively! Each of our communities has a social calendar full of events that make each day more enjoyable than the last! Homeowners shared special moments at the Discovery Days at Chickahominy Falls, including Earth Day, Dusty Boots Tours of the Westwoods models, Fun on the Farm, the Art Show, and Westwoods Grand Opening events. Their friendly and fun personalities truly make each event wonderful!

Community Outreach

Participating in our community and giving back must be one of the greatest highlights of the year for Cornerstone Homes. Our team was thrilled to partner, help, and participate with so many organizations and events in 2023. Kirsten and Kara represented PWB (Professional Women in Building) and read The House That She Built to inspire young learners about careers in homebuilding. Some of our youngest team members participated in a panel discussion with students at Huguenot HS to share experiences of careers in our industry.  Frank and Chris also partner with HBAR for Legislative Committee & Builders Executive Roundtable. Roger, Matt and Preston continue to support our local ULI and hosted a Panel Discussion this fall regarding best practices for community design. And of course, we love sharing the joy of the season with those less fortunate as we participated in Toys for Tots at our home office and all our communities. Vendor & Employee Appreciation

We couldn’t bring you the 55 and over communities and homes you love without our countless vendor partners and team members! Our award-winning team includes members with a mix of talents and skills who offer award-worthy personalities to match. We carefully select employees and work with vendors who share our values and passion for building the best 55+ communities in Virginia. This year, we hosted a vendor appreciation event on October 5th and welcomed 7 new employees (Sandy Craig, Dominic Diomede, Joe Mullens, Jared Heider, John Billings, Hugh Jones, and Jonathan Revere).
