Getting to Know Us: Meet Chana!

We are one big happy family at Cornerstone Homes. We have been celebrating the Holidays together, sharing gift shopping ideas, and making sure our communities feel the holiday spirit too!  So needless to say, just like big families, we love to see our members succeed.  Chana has recently been promoted to Community Sales Manager at our new community, The Grove at Lucks Lane, and we are all very excited. She stepped right into this new position and started off running. No, I mean sprinting! Already with 10 sales under her belt, it’s evident she loves what she does.

The Grove.

We hope you enjoy getting to know Chana a little bit more!

What is your role at Cornerstone Homes? What do you love most about your role and what is one of your biggest challenges?

I am the community sales manager for our new community, the Grove at Lucks Lane. I love working with the 55 and older community. I sold long-term care for many years to the same demographic and this allowed me to transition smoothly into my new role. The biggest challenge is selling homes that people are not able to see. Most people really want to be able to walk into a home and picture themselves living in it. It has been a challenge to only have one floor plan to show prospective clients.

What drew you to the active adult demographic/community?

I have worked with the 55 and older community for many years in past roles. I felt like this was a natural fit for me to be able to continue working with the same demographic while being able to provide them with a home that will meet all of their needs.

Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family!

I grew up right here in Richmond. I graduated from Saint Gertrude High School. I moved to Florida for a few years but came back to Richmond to get married and start a family. I have 2 children. Cameron is 20-years-old and he is a junior at the University of South Carolina studying business. My daughter Kaley is 17 and she is a senior at Cosby High School here in Midlothian. She has been playing soccer since she was 4-years-old and recently signed her letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Longwood University.

How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?

I spend most of my free time on the soccer field watching my daughter play. We also love going down to South Carolina to visit my son and attending the football games. I don’t do a lot of relaxing! I am not a big stay at home person. I like to be on the go all the time.

What do you wish other people knew about Cornerstone Homes?

That we may be a small company compared to other builders but we have a lot of heart and are always striving to make our customers very happy with the process of buying a home.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?

I started dating my husband when I was 15-years-old and I am very good with remembering numbers. I can tell you my bank card, mine and my husband’s social security numbers, and even my bank routing number on my checks.

Who or what has influenced your decision to work with active adults? Tell us about someone you admire.

Selling long-term care insurance for so many years really opened my eyes to the active adult community. I was able to help provide them with peace of mind. By purchasing this policy, it allowed my clients to stay in their homes instead of having to go into a nursing facility. When the opportunity at Cornerstone was presented to me, I felt like it would be a great transition. I was ready for something new and I had seen first-hand how not living in a 55 and over community would force people out of their homes they loved.

For example, my dad was in a wheelchair, but his home did not have the wide doorways or zero entries. He would fall multiple times in the bathroom because he had to leave his wheelchair at the door. I feel like I can relate to this community and gain their trust because I have had a parent that has lived through these difficulties.

Fun Questions:

Favorite snack:

Sweet and salty Chex Mix

Favorite place to travel to?

San Diego. I had to chaperone my daughter’s soccer team this past year. It was absolutely beautiful there. I loved the fact that you could be on the beach and look around and see mountains and hills.

Favorite book?

Not going to lie here, I’m not a big reader, it puts me to sleep.

If your life was a movie, what would your theme song be?

Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Telepathy. It would help me read the minds of my buyers so I could know what they are really thinking and overcome their objections.

All of us at Cornerstone Homes would like to thank Chana for all the hard work that she does and for making our days brighter!  If you want to live in a spectacular new 55+ community in Midlothian, VA, now’s your chance… after all, there’s no better time than the holidays to start your best life ever!
