Featured Employee: Meet Jennifer, Director of Sales at Cornerstone Homes

At Cornerstone Homes, our friendly and knowledgeable team comes into work every morning with one goal in mind: to make your 55+ living experience as extraordinary as can be. From the beginning of your process to the very end, you can rest assured that every employee you’ll interact with loves nothing more than working with active adults, and ensuring that you’re confident and excited about what is to come in your new home.

All of us are excited to introduce you to a Cornerstone Homes team member who embodies our positive spirit and inspires all of us to enjoy every moment. There’s no one who defines “love what you do” quite like Jennifer Jinnette, our Director of Sales. We sat down with her to give you the “inside scoop” about her and her role at Cornerstone Homes, and we’re so excited for you to meet her in person!

What do you love most about your role at Cornerstone Homes?

As the Director of Sales, I love being a part of a company who’s bringing a much-needed product to the market! I also love seeing that market expand as we open new communities.

What drew you to the active adult demographic/community?

I have worked for several different builders throughout my career (and in three different markets). While none of them was exclusively active adult, I always loved working with buyers in this exciting phase of their lives... They typically have gone through the buying or building process at least once in their lives and know exactly what they want.

I love how Cornerstone Homes focuses on helping our homeowners right-size, from the community to the floor plan. We also focus on making sure our communities offer the amenities that our homeowners want, and that we’re conveniently located near shopping, hospitals, restaurants, and highways.

Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family!

I was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I majored in business administration with a concentration in marketing. It was in Greensboro that I met my husband, Corey. We have an eight-year-old daughter named Michaela and three adorable rescue mutts, Savannah, Rickett, and Beyla. We moved to Virginia three years ago after deciding that we wanted better schools and opportunities for us and our daughter, and we now call Providence Forge, VA home!

How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?

I love spending time outside, whether it’s at the beach or in the mountains. On a typical weekend, you’ll find me at Busch Gardens, in downtown Richmond, at a vineyard, doing hot yoga, or hanging out with friends. I also love trying all of the delicious restaurants in RVA!

What do you wish other people knew about Cornerstone Homes?

We aren’t just building homes for people, but building neighborhoods that give our buyers the sense of community that they long for at this stage of their lives. As children age and move away, not only might a person’s home feel too big, but their community has probably changed as well. Visit any of our communities across Virginia and you’ll find active social clubs, neighbors becoming friends, and a plethora of activities and amenities that offer people the lifestyle they really want.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?

I’m a huge theme park nerd, especially Busch Gardens! I know way too much random trivia about that place, and (not so) secretly wish that I was a member of their Irish Dance show, Celtic Fyre. (I do not know how to Irish dance.)

Who or what has influenced your decision to work with active adults?

I previously worked for a builder who specialized in ranch plans and master suites on the main level, but was not an active adult builder. While working with so many buyers looking to downsize and retire, I really fell in love with this work. I’m excited to implement all of the knowledge that I have acquired over the years in working for different builders of varying price points and target markets to the excellent sales team that we have here!

What’s your favorite snack?

This is a super hard one because I love (good) food. Right now I would probably say sriracha roasted cashews from Thrive Market. I could eat the whole bag! I also love a good hummus with some veggies to dip.

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?

Probably Aruba, which I visited for the first time last Thanksgiving. Not only were the beaches just pristine, with white sand and crystal clear water, but everyone there was SO friendly. The island was clean and I felt completely safe walking around outside of the resort, which is something that I haven’t always felt in other tropical countries.

If your life was a movie, what would your theme song be?

No clue, but it would be a song from the 1980s!

All of us at Cornerstone Homes want to thank Jennifer for the incredible work that she does, and for making our office a little brighter every day. We’re so happy and grateful to have someone like her on our team, and we can’t wait for you to experience how much fun she is to work with!
