How to Prepare for Signing a Contract

At Cornerstone Homes we want to make the process of building your new home enjoyable and fun. We follow a proven set of steps to ensure you are informed and with us every step of the way. It is our number one priority to build you a new home that you love!

Our Sales Managers work with you to determine the best home plan for your lifestyle. They will tour available homes and homesites with you, and discuss home features. Cornerstone Homes includes many features in our homes but there are also upgrades available. Your Sales Manager can discuss possible upgrades, and what they might cost.

Signing The Contract

After your Consultation Appointment, you’ll know your preliminary pricing. Then, you and your Sales Manager will confirm your chosen homesite. Once you’ve done all of that, it’s time for your New Home Contract Meeting, where your Sales Manager will assist you with a purchase and sale agreement. During this meeting, we will write, review, and sign a contract, “The Sales Agreement”. We recommend that you choose all structural options at this time, too. So, you should know which options you want prior to this meeting.

An earnest money/builder deposit of $4,000 is due at the time of contract. A personal or certified check is preferred. You will be required to pay 50% of structural options at this time, also. This deposit will be credited from your final purchase price at the time of closing. Once the contract is signed, you have 21 days to complete your selections.

The Sales Agreement covers the basics of the decisions you've made up until this point: home plan, homesite, pricing, items included with the home, and any special conditions. You will also learn more about the timeline for the construction process, so that we’re all on the same page. Lastly, the contract will include many specific details that we will use to guide the building process and ultimately, the turnover of your new home to you! Once all parties sign off, the contract serves as a guide to getting your house built in a beautiful new Cornerstone Home community!

Beginning the Selections Process

Your signed sales agreement will kick off the selections process.  Cornerstone Homes’ Design Consultant will contact you to set up your selection appointment.  You might like to come to a preview of our selections during our Danish and Design or Wine and Design.  These previews will help you understand the process and what is involved so that the selections appointment will be more enjoyable and less stressful.

During the selections appointment you will make the design decisions that make your home uniquely yours.  Some of the items included in this appointment are: flooring and tile; cabinets, counters and appliances; lighting and a variety of other personal choices.

There's a lot that goes into buying and building a new home, but working with a great builder makes the process smooth, exciting, and enjoyable! For more information on building with Cornerstone Homes, please contact us. We can’t wait to work with you!
