Featured Employee: Meet Ina!

At Cornerstone Homes, we’re proud to say that each member of our caring team is just as unique as our homes and communities. While your dream home is being brought to life, every Cornerstone Homes employee works hard to ensure that your experience is nothing but easy and fun.

We’re excited to introduce you to a team member who embodies our passion for bringing happiness to the lives of our homeowners. Ina Hill, Community Sales Manager at Pine Springs, is such a treasure to have on our team — just as kind as she is knowledgeable, her enthusiasm and joy is infectious.

We sat down with Ina to give you an “inside look” into her role, what she loves about working with Cornerstone Homes, and how her unique spirit will help make your journey as exciting as can be!

What do you love most about your role? What’s one of your biggest challenges?

I love helping people find their dream homes and making the process as easy and exciting as possible. I also love hearing their life stories and connecting them with other residents to create new friendships!

My biggest challenge is teaching people to have a little more patience with new construction. As the saying goes: “Rome wasn’t built in a day…” Anything that is good quality is worth waiting for!

What drew you to the active adult demographic/community?

As I mentioned above, I love helping people and hearing life stories from older generations. This demographic has such interesting perspectives on life, which helps to see a “bigger picture” in any situation. Combined with my passion for creating new and comfortable lifestyles for people, working here was an easy choice.

Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family!

I grew up in Russia and moved around a lot as a child. My father was a military doctor, so life was exciting with a lot of traveling, moves, and making new friends  all across the country. I graduated from Moscow State University with a BA in English and got my MA here at VCU.

I met my husband, who is a Richmond, VA native, while working for the International Red Cross. That’s how I ended up in the USA and here in Richmond! This town has been my home for the last 27 years and I love it so much. We have one son, Mark, who’s currently studying psychology at VCU. He’s working toward becoming a child psychologist and I’m a proud mom. I guess the desire to help people runs in our family…

How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?

I’m a nerd and I do a lot of reading, mostly non-fiction. I try to read at least one book a week. I also love walking in nature and going to the beach, even if just for a day — it’s so energizing! For fun, I love to go to the wineries up in Charlottesville and travel abroad when I get the chance.

What do you wish other people knew about Cornerstone Homes?

Cornerstone Homes is unique in the active adult category, especially because we focus solely on 55+ communities. This gives us an edge over our competitors and a clear understanding of the wants and needs of this demographic. We are also a family — once you build a home with Cornerstone Homes, you are part of our growing family!

What would someone be surprised to know about you?

That I worked as a translator/interpreter at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 and have met the basketball “Dream Team” with Magic Johnson. It was a dream come true!

Tell us about someone or something that has influenced your decision to work with active adults!

My grandparents influenced most of my life choices. I spent so many summers with them growing up; my grandfather was a horse breeder and my grandmother was an amazing cook and a rug weaver. They believed in quality work and quality time with family. They taught me to do work that made me proud, own my word, and be reliable.

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?

The Amalfi Coast of Italy... heaven on Earth.

What’s your favorite book and why?

Difficult to choose — there are so many! But I’ll go with The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. It makes the teachings of the Tao Te Ching easy to understand and live by.

If your life was a movie, what would your theme song be?

It depends on my mood, of course. But I always choose to be positive and happy, so “Happy” by Pharrell Williams would be very appealing…

All of us at Cornerstone Homes want to thank Ina for all that she does for our team and our homeowners! We love having her on our side, and we know that you will too.
