Clubhouse Construction Begins at Barley Woods!

Categories: News & Events | Posted: June 23, 2017

Last month, our new Barley Woods community took its first steps toward becoming Fredericksburg’s first boutique 55+ community as we officially broke ground and kicked off construction of the homes and the community clubhouse.

“We’ve put a lot of sweat and hard work into laying the ground work to ensure this will be a special place to live,” said Roger Glover, owner of Cornerstone Homes. “We’re thrilled to already have 12 homebuyers at Barley Woods, and we’re excited to begin construction.”

“We made the commitment to invest in the major amenities upfront so that our earliest homebuyers will have places to gather and socialize from day one,” added Glover.

The Clubhouse at Barley Woods will be the social hub of the community, so get ready for some fun! Along with indoor and outdoor gathering spaces designed for year-round enjoyment, it will feature an outdoor pool, fitness center, the BW Pub, and entertaining areas. There will also be a  fire pit, an outdoor bar & grilling area, & pocket gardens.

ClubHouse Construction

Barley Woods also has something that you won’t find anywhere else – Boxwell Glade Park, a  section of preserved land with creek-side walking & exercise trails, a dog park & an orchard. Residents will have the luxury of enjoying peaceful walks through the woods, wandering through the orchard, and listening to the melody of the creek.

“Another unique amenity at Barley Woods is the Corner Patch Garden,” said Wanda Cook, sales manager at Barley Woods. “Cornerstone is introducing a ‘hands on’ learning experience where homeowners can develop skills growing different varieties of vegetables, fruits, and flowers.”

Homebuyers at Barley Woods enjoy a wide range of home choices with seven different home designs in both attached and detached configurations. The floor plans can be tailored to fit your lifestyle with flex spaces, and unique options.   This is truly a no-maintenance community so get ready to enjoy your freedom from outside home and yard maintenance!!!

The Barley Woods Sales Office is open Monday through Saturday from 10 – 5, and Sunday from 1 – 5.  For more information, contact Wanda Cook at 540-699-3009.

Cornerstone Homes Gives Back!

Categories: News & Events | Posted: June 5, 2017

When Cornerstone and The Chesterfield Food Bank team up, there’s no limit to what we can do for our community! With the help of our awesome Magnolia Lakes homeowners, friends and family, the Food Bank collected an impressive 629 pounds of food this past March!

As one of Chesterfields Food Banks’ closest neighbors, Magnolia Lakes (a Cornerstone Homes community) was more than happy to help the organization as part of our continuing efforts to give back to the community! In addition to food donations, we vowed to provide a check matching the total collected food weight at the end of the fundraiser.

Michelle Newcome, a Cornerstone representative, presented the $629 check to the food bank which will help feed so many people in need within our community. The additional donation will also help provide the financial means to keep the lights on at the food bank, put gas in their vehicles for Food on the Move and maintain the summer food program, which helps children who relied on school meals have enough to eat all summer long.

Cornerstone Homes want to give a special thank you to all of those in our community whose efforts helped us support such a worthy organization and provide food for so many people!

If you’re interested in helping further, the Food Bank is looking for more volunteers to help with their Food on the Move program, delivering food to four local schools, or assist with their food pick up at the Chester, VA location.  You can call the Food Bank at 414-8885 to volunteer. You can also continue to make donations through the green donation box in our clubhouse.

It’s Time to Embrace Spare Time and a Maintenance-Free Lifestyle!

Categories: News & Events | Posted: March 23, 2017

After years of doing for others, you’ve reached an age where you want to do for yourself. At Cornerstone Homes, we can absolutely help you achieve that goal. Our communities are all about encouraging your freedom and pursuing an active lifestyle. Life here means no yard work, no maintenance issues, no snow shoveling. Instead, we offer carefree homes in a maintained community… and plenty of spare time to do whatever you want!

We’re also firm believers in the lock-and-leave lifestyle. For people who travel, or have second homes, or are simply are too busy to deal with the nuisances of homeownership, a low maintenance home that is secure and looked after while you’re off living your life is a dream come true.

Legions of active adults, retirees and Baby Boomers have learned to embrace the concept of worry-free spare time, indulging in leisure activities, traveling, volunteering, socializing or even taking on second careers. Join the crowd! Instead of fussing about annual upkeep, go on a cruise or visit the kids. Instead of mowing the lawn, go for a swim, take a yoga class, or pick up a new hobby. Enjoy your spare time… you’ve earned it!

Maintenance-free living is one of our principles at Cornerstone Homes. We build high quality, affordable single-story homes in secure, maintenance-free communities in Virginia and North Carolina. We want our homeowners to have lives full of choices and opportunities, for them to have the homes and lifestyles they envision and deserve, whether that means more free time to travel, or more freedom to enjoy family and friends.
